NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series- These series will have a single round of qualifying. Fastest second-round qualifiers will be eligible for the qualifier for the exhibition race at Daytona. Pole winners will be eligible for exhibition race at Daytona each year. If no past champions are left normal points provisional will be used. The final spot in the field is reserved for the most recent past champion not qualified. After that, the current season point standings are used. The first 5 races of the season go back to the previous years points to determine provisional starters. All other positions will be awarded by provisionals. In second round qualifying positions 26-35 will be set. During first round qualifying the top-25 will be locked into the race. NASCAR Winston Cup Series- There will be 2 rounds of qualifying. Qualifying Format (Except for Daytona 500): Along with the 5 bonus points, only one driver in a race would receive an additional 5 bonus points for leading the most laps, so the driver who led the most would receive 10 bonus points altogether. Along with the points based on the finishing position, a driver who leads at least one lap in a race would be credited 5 bonus points.Between rank 1 and 6 Starting at 175 there were 5 points gaps, between rank 6 and 11 were 4 points gaps and below rank 11 - 3 points gaps respectively.Equal points are awarded in all races, regardless of their length or purse. In the 1975 season, a new scoring system was introduced, created by Bob Latford.Anyway, I hope you enjoy following along and I will see you in the next one with a introduction to the driver.Ĭhampionship Points System (All Series): Equal points per race I hope all this makes sense but it will be gone over more along the way. Once you get a point off it will stay at that level unless I lose my ride or change teams to a lower tier team. I will explain this further in each season preview but an example would be if I run a full Winston Cup season as a rookie and finish in the top-25 I can get a percentage point taken off the difficulty for the next season. Also, I can get percentage points taken off each season by meeting certain driver criteria. Each star will take a percentage off of the difficulty for that series. Each team will have a rating based on the previous season and it will be 0-3 stars. As a default I will run Winston Cup on 100% difficulty my rookie season or any partial season, 99% for the Busch Series and 98% for the Truck Series. Difficulty will be based on what year I am running and which series/team I may be running in/for. I will be posting action pictures, recaps, media posts and other little things to help bring this blog to life. Weeks will be Monday-Sunday since Winston Cup race day will be mostly on Sundays. I will post a calendar at the beginning of each week with each practice day, qualifying day and race day listed for each series. Each race will have detailed posts for practice sessions, qualifying sessions, the race and certain post race things like pit road interviews and what not. Another example is some drivers/teams will be different than what happened in real life. One example is North Wilkesboro Speedway will never lose it's date in this adventure. Some things that happened in real life may not happen in my universe. Each season will start with a season preview with drivers, teams and schedule for the upcoming season. Here are some things to expect in this blog: The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, the NASCAR Busch Series and of course the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. We will start in 1997 and be running in one of or all of the top NASCAR divisions. Well, I have decided to do all that with NR2003 with the use of the many mods, tracks and carsets available I will be going on my own journey through NASCAR history. You could change teams, pick different sponsors and build your career into whatever you wanted to. You could work your way from a slow car or lower series up to a top-tier ride in a top series. Whether it's NASCAR Dirt To Daytona, NASCAR Thunder 2004 or NASCAR Chase For The Nextel Cup 2005 all had very good career modes. However, there was always something missing from this game that early 2000's console NASCAR games did get right.a good career mode. It is truly a classic and has stood the test of time. The mods/utilities available are what really led me back to playing this game again. Well, with the decline of my interest in real-life NASCAR and the pretty much unplayable console NASCAR games I purchased another copy of this gem to dive back into the game. I played it for a few years but with things in life I moved away from home and eventually lost my copy of the game. I played this game as a college aged young man back when it first was released. NASCAR Racing 2003 Season from Papyrus is a simulation racing game for PC.
